February 2011

So February was filled with many outings. Mainly running all the energy out of our kids. Since it has been super cold this winter and we have not been able to go out and do many things the kids have been getting cabin fever. So on any warm day we went out. We were blessed to get a few days that were 50 degrees. When you have had 20-30 degree weather 50 degrees feels like 70 degrees. So we went on walks, we would walk up to BYU and go feed the ducks and race around campus. It was fun to play I spy as we were walking and getting some fresh air.
I also discovered this fun place for kids called Kangaroo Zoo. They have several jump houses and jumbo blow up slides for the kids to play on. We went there a few times this month where Phoenix could literally spend 4-5 hours just playing and running around. I guess he seriously had cabin fever and needed it. It has helped us to not feel so cooped up as well.

Well we officially have a one year old. That seems so weird to be saying but it has been one year since our little girl entered our lives. We had a party with family for her. It was fun putting up all the decorations. I decided to try and make some cute cupcakes for her birthday and I think they turned out delicious. My wonderful friend Sara made her cake, it was SUPER CUTE!!! Reagan was so funny. She didn't want to open presents (so Phoenix helped her out) then she ate her cake all daintily. She would only stick one finger in and put it in her mouth. Such a silly girl.

For Valentines day this year we went up to my parents for dinner. I asked my mom what I could help her with. Chocolate covered strawberries and these chocolate bowls. What you do is you get a balloon. Blow up the balloon and dip it in chocolate and let it sit over night. Then you pop the balloon and you have a bowl. Well....... lets just say it "blew" up in my face. First one went good, 2nd, 3rd went fine too. Then we got to the fourth on and literally it popped on me. I was covered in chocolate from head to toe. It was so funny.

Valentines day was so much fun. Just enjoying good company, a YUMMY meal and having fun with family was the best way to spend the day with those we love.
We also had presidents day weekend in which Steve got Monday off. We got to go out with the kids and see a movie. It is fun now that Phoenix is at the age that he really enjoys movies and Reagan still will fall asleep during most movies making it much easier to go. It was fun to just enjoy a day playing with our kids.
Besides Reagan's birthday we also got to celebrate both my mom and dad's birthdays this month. My mom just wanted to have cake for her birthday while we had a big party for my dad. It was fun because I got to make a video for my dad's birthday. I got to see some pretty fun pictures of him as a kid. It brought back so many wonderful memories of my childhood.

Steve- He is in the thick of school. He just got done with 3/4 of his mid terms he has one later this week. He is such a trooper with school. He is constantly studying and working hard. It totally shows when he aces tests and quizzes. He has enjoyed a few days off of work throughout the month and getting caught up on sleep. He is looking forward to August when he graduates. He is also getting prepared for taking the GRE and applying to grad schools.
Whitney- I have enjoyed taking the kids out more this month. To be able to go outside a few days and to go out places and enjoy running out some energy. I love the winter but it also make me grateful that spring is on its way. It has been fun learning how to make cute cupcakes. It has been nice to add a new skill to my list. I have also taken a bunch of old clothes and revamping them for the kids. Taking old shirts we don't wear and making them new cute shirts for the kids. Taking old pants, skirts, dresses, anything I can and making them into new clothes for the kids. Its fun and challenging.
Phoenix- He has enjoyed his preschool so much. He loves going to play and learn. He is starting to make more full sentences and to communicate with us. He makes us watch what we say since he likes to copy what we say. ABC's has been the big thing this month. We have been teaching him the ABC song and he is getting it down and will go around the house singing it.
Reagan- What can I say my little one year old. I can't believe how much you have grown up in the past year. You are finally walking!! You love to talk to us, your baby babble is so cute. And you love to baby swear when you are frustrated. You finally got your top teeth and are now four on top and four on the bottom. You have the best smile and giggle. You love to laugh out loud at the dumbest things. You love your big brother and will follow him anywhere. You finally fit into 12 month clothing. You stayed in 0-3 months til you were 6 months old. You love your vegetables but only if we don't cut them up. You devour anything that we set in front of you. And you make such a mess that you get a bath most every time you eat. You are super shy and love to cling onto mom and dad. You get super excited when dad gets home and if you are not the first thing he picks up you are mad. You love to play peek a boo and to dance to music. You are one special girl. We love you so much and are so lucky that you belong to us. Your big brother loves to give you love, hugs and kisses. Thank you for the past year and all that you have brought us and taught us. WE LOVE YOU!

Raegan's "baby swearing" cracked me up. Dax does that, too, but I'd never thought of such a funny term to call it. Glad you're all doing well! Love you.
