After that we started our month by going and getting a real Christmas tree. We let Phoenix pick one out of the three we had chosen. I think he chose the best one. It was super full and barely made it into the corner of our living room. But we got it there. Reagan was more interested in eating the decorations for the tree. So we decorated it after she went to bed. Phoenix was such a big helper. He even got to put the star on top of the tree.
The next day we were off to have breakfast with Santa!! Unfortunately Steve had the flu that morning and wasn't able to come. But we went with my parents, sister and nephew. There were many activities for the kids. They had pin the nose on Rudolph, coloring, writing a letter to Santa, fishing in the North Pole, and making tiny elves. Phoenix loved giving Santa his letter telling him he wanted a choo choo train for Christmas. He loved sitting on Santa's lap this year which was great. Last year he was terrified. However Reagan freaked out when she saw Santa and couldn't get away quick enough. Hopefully her big brother can help her more next year.
Later that night me, my dad, my sister Melissa, Phoenix and my nephew Teagan went to see the ZOO LIGHTS. At our zoo they light it up with lights that look like animals. It was super impressive. Phoenix loved that he got to see all the animals, meet some reindeer, drink hot chocolate, get light up toys, get a stuffed tiger, and ride the carousel.
The next weekend we were off to Idaho. We got there in time to go to Steve's parent's ward activity with them. Phoenix was so mad that he couldn't sing with the primary kids in their program. He said he knew all the songs. Poor guy didn't understand. However, he did make the crowd laugh by saying Wahoo for the kids after they sang. Phoenix once again got to see Santa and once again Reagan did not like it. Steve's sister Kelly and her family came up too. The kids loved having some cousins up to play with them. Phoenix loved helping Grandma wherever he could. We got to have an early Christmas with Steve's parents which was way fun!!
Right when we came home our next adventure started. It was off to Pirate Island Pizza for dinner with the grandparents and cousins and aunt. Then we headed off to do carriage rides. They have free carriage rides down here in Provo and it was amazing!! We were pretty lucky that it was particularly a warm night. They have a "North Pole" shop right next to the carriage rides so we took the boys in there to make temperature reading penguins. Phoenix begged to go back after we were done.
So Reagan is thinking about standing. This is her not sure if she is going to or not. Phoenix keeps telling her to not sit but to stand with him.
So we were very lucky when we got to go out for a nice lunch. My parents wanted to take us kids out to a nice lunch at Chef's Table. It is a super fancy restaurant here, so fancy you can't take kids. So luckily our great friend Angie watched our kids. We were treated to a fine lunch and ate until we were going to explode. It was so nice to be able to have a nice quiet and fun lunch with our family. the next day I was lucky enough to go on a daddy daughter date. My dad took me out to go and see Kurt Bestor in concert. Okay most of you are probably going okay Kurt Bestor?? YEAH KURT BESTOR!! It was so amazing! The power of the music was incredible. Oh and yeah I got to see one of the contestants on American Idol. It was Jason Castro who is an amazing singer. I have been to a few concerts in my lifetime but this is AMAZING. If you ever get a chance you should go. You will not regret it, I already told Steve I want to get tickets for next year. Me and my dad also went shopping up in Salt Lake City. Then he surprised me by taking me out to Cheesecake factory. I had never been, now I can't wait to go again. Thanks dad for an amazing night!!
On Christmas Eve we started off the day right by making cookies for Santa. My sister came over with her son and her friends kids as well. The kids had so much fun and loved setting out the cookies that night for Santa. Later that night we went up to my parents house for a night full of fun. We started off with a nice dinner. Then Santa dropped off our pajamas. Phoenix was so mad that Santa had just ding door ditched us, he wanted to see him. Then we played some fun games. Then Grandpa helped the boys tell the nativity story with our nativity set. We then opened our sibling gifts to each other, and went to go look at lights. What a great night.
Christmas was so amazing. We were spoiled once again. Santa treated us very good this year. Some of the highlights were Guitar Hero ( a game with drums, guitar and mic) for Steve, a heater blanket for me ( I freeze all the time), v-motion (gaming system that teaches letters, numbers, shapes, etc) for Phoenix, and a ball popper (toy) for Reagan. Although when we turned Reagan's toy on, Phoenix loved it and wanted it for himself and Reagan cried until about the 10th time we turned it on. Now she thinks it is funny!
So one night I made lemon chicken. Reagan kept begging for more food, after all her nickname is Mooch! But we got down to only having a slice of Lemon left. Reagan kept begging and reaching for it. So, she got it and I loved her face. She did this 5 times then got mad.
The Monday after Christmas Steve had the whole day off. So we had a great family day. We went up to the zoo to see the Zoo Lights again (Steve missed it the first time due to the flu). Phoenix wasn't quite as thrilled this time but Reagan was so intrigued. She stayed the warmest out of all of us. After zoo lights we headed down to Salt Lake City to go and see the lights around Temple Square. It was so cute, most of the night Phoenix was not in the best of moods. When he saw the statue of Christ, he begged to go up and see it and couldn't wait to take a picture of it (oh yeah the picture of it was the one Phoenix took). After we saw Jesus he was a perfect angel. Reagan slept the whole time we were on temple square.
A couple days later we were thrilled to see some of our best friends. Bryce and Anna live out in California with their adorable girl Emma, who is only three months younger than Reagan. Bryce was the one who introduced me and Steve to each other. It was fun to catch up with them and to see the girls playing so good together. This is me holding Reagan and Emma, the next picture is Steve and Bryce.
Steve- Well he is getting ready to start back up in school. After many months of trying to figure out if psychology is really the way he wants to go he finally made his decision. He has decided to stick with psychology but doing the counseling side of it instead. He really wants to focus on a career in marriage and family counseling. This is going to be way awesome for him and he feels like he has found his niche and drive to finish his bachelors and get going into grad school.
Whitney- I love being a stay at home mom. People ask me what I do other than take care of my kids. I answer " I don't really have to much time for anything". I love that though, to be able to dedicate myself to my kids and to do a few fun things on the side. It is nice to see your hard work pay off when your kid understands what you want them to do.
Phoenix- Man what a month for him. He is such an amazing boy by learning so much. He got to do his first preschool program where he sang and danced for us. He is such a good big brother and just an amazing son. He surprises me every day with what new things he is learning. He finally learning to use words and sentences better. It is still a struggle but he's three..... he will get there.
Reagan- She now has three going on four teeth. She is standing like crazy. She pulls herself up onto everything. She loves to walk with the help of hands but has no confidence to try on her own. She started talking this month. She first said MAMA!! But then Mama helped her learn how to say Dada. She now loves to say both. She now hates her baby food and will only eat regular food cut up really small.
